Hype! Pattern Is Movement is really, really, unfairly overlooked. They released what’s legitimately one of my favorite albums, All Together, in 2008, and I was taken by their mix of Pinback-esque musical precision and decorative flairs (despite their only being two people in the band) upon first listen. Some have called their music ‘chamber pop’ but that moniker makes their music sound more inaccessible and pedantic than it really is: some of it’s a little slower and moodier, but most of it will just make you want to dance like a crazy person.

Light of the World is a newer song with awesome drumming. Here’s hoping the rest of the album is this beat-based.
